The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is proud to announce that four students have been named 2026 National Math Stars nominees, earning recognition among Iowa's highest-achieving young mathematicians.
The Iowa Department of Education partnered with National Math Stars to identify the state's top-performing math students based on results from the 2026 Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP). This spring, third-grade students who scored in the top 2% statewide were nominated for the honor.
Marshalltown's 2026 National Math Stars nominees are:
Cooper Cutright, Fisher Elementary School
Jaxson Galema, Hoglan Elementary School
Clark Lewis, Woodbury Elementary School
Everett Coleman, Woodbury Elementary School
Each student received a National Math Stars medal recognizing their achievement in mathematics.
Being named a National Math Stars nominee places these students among Iowa's top young math performers and reflects the strong academic foundation provided by Marshalltown Community School District.
"We are incredibly proud of these students for being named National Math Stars nominees," said Superintendent Dr. Theron Schutte. "Their achievement reflects not only their hard work and perseverance, but also the support of their families and educators who encourage a love of learning every day. Earning recognition among Iowa's top young math students is an outstanding accomplishment, and we congratulate each of them on this well-deserved honor."
