Welcome Daryl Dotson

The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Daryl Dotson as Associate Principal at Marshalltown High School, effective July 14, 2026.

Dotson brings a wealth of experience in education, leadership, and student support to Marshalltown High School. He began his career as a special education associate working with fourth and fifth grade students before spending 10 years as a secondary classroom teacher and two years as a behavior coach. Throughout his 25-year coaching career, he has led student-athletes in football, wrestling, baseball, softball, and girls tennis. This year marks his fifth year serving in school administration.

Dotson earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Upper Iowa University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Drake University, a principalship certificate from the University of Northern Iowa, and superintendent licensure from Northwest Missouri State University.

"I am excited to be working in a school district that truly values students and staff members," Dotson said. "Marshalltown has a ton of resources that support students and families, and that was a huge draw for me. I feel that I can make a meaningful impact on students and staff members, and I've already received such a warm welcome from everyone."

As Associate Principal, Dotson's primary goal is to serve students, staff, the administrative team, and the Marshalltown community. In alignment with MCSD's Embrace the Lead initiative, he is committed to leading through service by listening, supporting others, and maintaining a positive attitude.

Outside of his professional career, Dotson enjoys reading and watching law enforcement television shows. He is also a proud father of three grown children, Payton, Jenesis, and Elijah, and grandfather to his three-year-old grandson, Sage. Dotson also served nine years in the military, including an overseas tour in Kuwait and Iraq.

Please join MCSD in welcoming Daryl Dotson to the Bobcat community as the new Associate Principal at Marshalltown High School.
